That Four-letter Word Starting with "S"

No, not that one....the "snow" word has worked it's way into our vocabulary today...ugh. It actually starting raining (yahooooo) last night about 6 p.m. after a day of wind and then this morning around 9 a.m. we had "s----" falling...really more like heavy rain but I know snow when I see it. After our high's near 80 last weekend it is now 44 degrees and cloudy as I write this. I'm wearing "layers" again and the heat is on. We have three heating zones in our house and only two are working. The bedrooms and bathrooms on both ends of the house are warm but the zone that warms the kitchen/living/dining area in the middle doesn't work. We have to figure that out quickly. It worked before the "water situation" and may be a result of that little "adventure". Gene's talking to one of our friends who may have the answer - otherwise it's a call to the plumber...we have hot water heat or radiant heat or whatever.

.A STRONG UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST PORTIONS OF NEW MEXICO THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL GENERALLY REMAIN ABOVE 7500 FEET ALTHOUGH SOME ACCUMULATIONS ON GRASSY AND ELEVATED SURFACED WILL BE OBSERVED BELOW THAT LEVEL ACROSS THE NORTHEAST. SNOW AMOUNTS UP TO THIS POINT HAVE BEEN VARIED WITH AROUND 1 INCHES NORTH OF RATON AND UP TO 7 INCHES AT 10000 FEET IN THE SANGRE DE CRISTOS. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS CERTAINLY COULD HAVE BEEN OBSERVED IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN. ADDITIONAL SNOW AMOUNTS WILL ALSO BE VARIED BUT GENERALLY LOOK FOR ANOTHER 3 TO 5 INCHES ABOVE 9000 FEET AND 1 TO 3 INCHES BELOW 9000 FEET.

We aren't really complaining about the moisture however!! Our water tanks overfloweth...just wish we had more of them to fill...

Next week we will have fun with our friends, Patty and Paul Hirz from Seattle who are coming to visit us for 3 days...will take them up to Montezuma for a castle tour, and out to Pecos Pueblo and to see the Casteneda Hotel and the Plaza Hotel, etc. All places that are featured in a wonderful book called "The Night Journal" by Elizabeth Crook. And of course it's a good excuse to stop by La Risa and have lunch or dinner.

Gene's sisters, Bev and Barb, are coming to visit the end of February for a week from Minnesota although why they want to come from the winter snow there to the winter snow here I haven't figured out yet!! And supposedly some other friends are coming over from Phoenix to visit in January and a couple of others from Minnesota in February. This is not the Riviera but the sun should be shining!

Off now to make some tea and read a book wrapped in an afghan or quilt....
