Naptime

We have had a busy week and today, after Carol and David left, it's naptime. Well, at least for the dogs...and I'm not much farther behind them. It's a little overcast but about 40 degrees...more snow predicted in the next day or two...not much accumulation predicted but one never knows. However, we are prepared...Gene received a wonderful new snow shovel for Christmas so let it snow. Since he had shoveled part of the sidewalk with the old shovel, I decided to shovel the rest of it in the back with his present!! Had I known my dear brother was going to come out and take pictures of me shoveling in my pink bathrobe, I might have changed clothes!! Fun to shovel a little of the light stuff....but hoping this next round will not need to be shoveled.

The days have gone by quickly for us. We've tried out a few restaurants in town, went to church Christmas Eve, drove up to Taos and the Taos Ski Valley which was incredibly beautiful. Not a lot of snow up there and they told us they do make snow so they can open by Thanksgiving. Had a nice lunch in a restaurant right at the base of the ski runs so we could watch everyone going up in the ski lift and coming down the hills!!
We took the dogs along on the trip and they did fine in the car.





After the ski resort stop, we came back down the mountain and stopped at Taos Pueblo to look around. This is the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in the US and it is really interesting. There were not a lot of people visiting - it was so peaceful and serene there. We stopped in several shops and talked with the native artists. Some wonderful pots and drums and jewelry. I managed to hold on to my money!! On the trip home we ate at Maria's in Santa Fe...famous for their margaritas and of course, New Mexican food. Long day but we had fun. We've also been up to Whittington and Cimarron and various other places. It was a great Christmas...much better than last year when our plans were interrupted by the lovely snow storm in Seattle.

So now I will sign off my new computer (yes, it finally arrived and we've all enjoyed using it) and take my nap.
