Water and Rainbows

Well, our water catchment system is up and running (no pun intended)... Bill got it hooked into our house system Friday afternoon and it's a wonderful thing. Only one problem yet to be solved - our clothes washer needs to be pulled away from the wall and the cold water hose/valve have to be cleaned out. We get hot water in but the cold seems to be plugged up, which happened when the well went dry and sand/gunk got into the lines. But Gene and Parish will get that taken care of tomorrow so we can again wash clothes at home. Otherwise it's working great, our tanks are filled and rain is predicted. Bill stopped over this afternoon to borrow Gene's rotary hammer and our small pump to help out another neighbor whose well went dry today. They had a problem about 3 weeks ago and had their pump lowered but only managed to get about 3 weeks more of water. So they are starting to hook up their system. It's really nice having neighbors who help with the loan of tanks and pumps and then we are able to pay that forward and loan ours out.

The second picture on this post is of the sky tonight around 7 p.m. Big thunder clouds going over yet the amount of rain was - well, we could count the number of drops on our house. But the rainbow was there along with other wonderful colors amidst the gray... the light in New Mexico is just what we've always heard of... other-worldly at times...just spectacular... etc. I have not retouched the photo!!

So this week I need to get over to Santa Fe (Monday) to get the rest of my stuff for Whittington, buy a pair of boots (which I think I can get here in Las Vegas - red cowboy boots!) and be back in time for choir rehearsal tomorrow night, choir rehearsals on Wednesday night and then off to the range on Thursday morning. Can't wait to meet the other women who will be at the event..and hopefully I'll get a roommate that I like!!

It's been a good week-end and we are thankful for the water and our new friends who have stood by to help us. Now it's our turn to pay it back!
