Our friends, Stephen and Mary, came over for dinner last night and brought books and maps for New Mexico!! They lived in Las Vegas NM for about 14 years, I think, after retiring from teaching in Oklahoma and moved to Seattle about 4 years ago. Gene met Mary when he was taking the Master Gardener course - they ended up in the same small group. What a coincidence. So it's been great having them as our "mentors" about the ins and outs of Las Vegas. They have introduced us to several people down there and have given us lots of info about gardening there and also all the sights to see. We did some "traveling" last night with them using the road atlas... there are so many great places to visit - even if we just want a day trip.
We had a great time and it's always so nice to hear about their life and travels. They leave the end of the month for 6 weeks or so in Indonesia where their daughter and her family live. So we'll get together again after they come back and before we move. Certainly hope they plan to come and visit us once in awhile. In fact, our house is within walking distance of where they lived. Such a small world.
